Brian worked in international casino roles for eighteen years, until 2008 when he changed careers. He enrolled at Birmingham City University and went on to serve as an Officer of the Serious Organised Crime Agency until March 2013.
After two years working in Financial Investigations and Anti-Money Laundering he transferred to the Communications Data Unit before completing his time in law enforcement in what is now the National Cyber Crime Unit.
He was subsequently employed as Project Manager for Cyber Security Challenge UK until March 2015; a Cabinet Office funded Company established to foster and encourage talent in the field of cyber security, and is currently Business Development Manager EMEA for (ISC)2, a global membership organisation and accreditation body for cyber security professionals.
Brian was appointed to the Bench in 2005 and is a Trustee of the Magistrates Association. He previously sat on the Judicial Security Committee and currently sits on the Board of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) UK Chapter. He is also a Restorative Justice Champion, a member of the Parliamentary Advisory Committee for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Young People and Social Technology and is advisor to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Digital Crime.
