Patton Adams is the Director of iDefense Threat Analysis & Recon, leading a globally-distributed team of experts monitoring and analysing cyber crime, espionage, and hacktivist activity around the world.
Before coming to Verisign, Patton led analytic teams at defence contractor Northrop Grumman, supporting the US Army Cyber Command and Northrop Grumman’s corporate information security operations.
A recognised expert in cyber threat analysis, Patton specialises in strategically focused analysis aimed at enabling risk mitigation and long-range decision-making. Patton has more than 15 years of experience in cyber threat research and analysis, having worked alongside U.S. and international partners in military, intelligence, government, and commercial cyber security operations; and during which he developed innovative approaches to counterintelligence, insider threat mitigation, cyber intrusion analysis, visualisation, and damage assessments. He has authored hundreds of threat analysis products, as well as national-level cyber threat intelligence assessments and the 2012 US-China Commission report, “Occupying the Information High Ground: Chinese Capabilities for Computer Network Operations and Cyber Espionage.”
Patton pursued undergraduate studies in International Affairs and Chinese at Georgetown University and graduate studies in ancient Cambodian history at Cornell University. He speaks French, Mandarin Chinese, Indonesian, and Khmer.
