Bharat Thakrar started his career working for Fujitsu in technical design of computer systems followed by consultancy/advisory roles specialising in protection of IT environments, security risk management and cyber resilience.
He joined BT to set up a global advisory practice for Business Continuity and Resilience and to advise leadership teams, C-suite, Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) and senior management in understanding the value of risk-based security investments and helping organisations build robust security, risk and resilience processes and systems to not only mitigate against the increasing levels of uncertainty but also to enhance their reputation and to contribute to the bottom line.
He is currently undertaking research into changes impacting security functions and CISOs as they address the challenges from the impending digital disruption, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data/A.I. and Industry 4.0 restructuring.Bharat is a frequent conference speaker and regularly runs seminars and workshops on Cyber Resilience, IoT, A.I. etc. He is a visiting lecturer on university masters programmes and has chaired international conferences on Cyber Incident Response and Threat Intelligence.
He has a MBA from Imperial College, London, and is a CISSP and CBCP practitioner.
